FAITH - THE BASICS OF FAITH

WHAT IS FAITH?

Many people speak about faith and having faith in God, but what is faith?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. (Hebrews 11:1, 3 NKJV)

Faith is the power released by the Father to enforce the will of the Father expressed through His words. Faith is that spiritual force that allows you to see the substance before it exists. Kenneth E. Hagin describes faith as, “Laying hold of the unseen realm of hope and bringing it into the realm of reality.”

Basically, faith is having trust in God; it is taking Him at His Word and believing that His promises will come to pass in your life. You may be wondering, “How can I believe for something that I can’t see?” Well, firstly, the only reason you are a Christian is because you believe in God and you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Did you see Jesus when you received Him in your heart? Most people don’t, but are completely persuaded that Jesus is and based on their persuasion, they believe in Him.

So another way of describing faith is that it is your conviction and persuasion. One of the things that you must establish in yourself when it comes to faith is that God’s Word is true. Always. When you are persuaded that God’s Word is always true, you will believe in His promises, even if the circumstances look otherwise. You just have to make up your mind that you will not be moved by what you see, but you will only be moved by the Word of God – this is real Bible faith.

Trust and believing is a choice. That means that faith is a choice. It is a choice that you can make right now in your heart to say, “Father, I trust You. I believe Your holy, precious written Word and I make a choice to live by Your Word. I do not consider the circumstances, but I consider Jesus and trust Him more than what I see and how I feel.”
